Purpose
The Lake Forest Woman’s Club (LFWC) is a local chapter of the General Federation of
Women’s Clubs. LFWC is dedicated to educational scholarships, as well as to enhancing the
community and providing members with opportunities for education, voluntary outreach,
personal development and friendships.

- Monthly luncheon meetings feature unique programs and guest speakers, and are held in exciting venues including private clubs, members’ homes and gardens
- Annual philanthropic luncheon event
- Annual membership directory and monthly award-winning newsletter
- Annual new and prospective member luncheon
- Bridge marathon and book review groups
- Committee and board-level member participation and opportunities
- Member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC, a national and international organization) and the GFWC Illinois Tenth District.
Accomplishments Through the Years
Then…
- More than $300,000 in scholarships have been awarded to Lake Forest High School Seniors, Barat College Returning Adults and Lake Forest College
- Coordinated First Lake Forest Day
- Members volunteer at Hull House with Jane Adams
- Organized Visiting Nurse Program in Lake Forest Schools
- Key facilitator of Lake Forest Parent Teacher Association and the opening of Lake Forest High School.
- Initiated annual scholarship program
- Active participant during WWI and WWII in bandage sewing rooms, savings bonds and stamp purchase programs and supplied “knapsack libraries” to soldiers overseas
- 1950 Sponsored free tuberculosis mobile chest x-ray units.
Now…
- Annual scholarship awarded to Lake Forest High School Seniors and Trinity International University Students enrolled in the “Reach to Teach” Program. Annually memorial scholarships are awarded to students, and honor deceased members.
- Annual Friendship Event for residents of Westmoreland Nursing Care Center
- Continuing support and contact with Veterans at the North Chicago Veterans Affairs Medical Center
- Continuing support for Canine Companions
- Monthly charity donations
- Donor of LFWC’S 100 years of historic records to the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society for public viewing, research.
